What diners say
Reviews via GoogleAl-Nur Kebab House was a pleasant surprise and a great addition to the area. We picked up the Waziri Kebab Combo, and overall, it was a delicious and satisfying meal. The seekh kebab was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the chicken pieces were well-marinated, nicely charred on the outside, and still juicy on the inside. The rice was aromatic and flavorful, the salad was fresh, and the bread was soft and complemented the meal perfectly. Everything felt well-seasoned and thoughtfully prepared, making for a balanced and enjoyable Afghan-style meal. The only suggestion I would have is regarding the chicken portion in the combo, either the pieces could be slightly larger or a bit more generous in quantity. Other than that, it was a great experience, and based on this visit, we’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.
I recently visited Al Nur Kebab in Whitby and had a great experience overall. The food was flavorful and well-balanced and nothing felt bland, and you can tell care goes into their preparation. The Kabuli rice with shank was a highlight. The rice was aromatic and rich, and the shank was very soft and tender, cooked perfectly. The Chapli kebab was also impressive and not overly oily and packed with authentic flavor. Their special platter stood out with a nice tangy profile that made it quite enjoyable. The Manto was also well done, fresh, and satisfying. A special mention to Maria, who was our server and she was very accommodating, polite, and guided us really well through the menu. Her recommendations were spot on and definitely enhanced our overall experience. The space is another big plus and very spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating around 150 people, making it great for families, group dinners, and gatherings. The seating layout is well organized and doesn’t feel cramped, even when busy. What I also appreciated was the freshness of the salad and sides, and the presentation of the dishes were simple but appealing. The portion sizes are generous, making it good for sharing. Ratings: Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Ambience & Space: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Value for Money: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Suggestion: It would be great if they introduced a large BBQ platter with a variety of grilled items only (without rice or bread). This would make it more cost-effective while offering greater quantity and variety for customers who just want to enjoy the grills. Overall, a solid spot in Whitby for Afghan-style food and definitely worth visiting again.
I ordered take out. My wife's Al-Nur-Fish was outstanding! The flavors and crispness of fish was delicious! My Darbari was super flavourable tender with spices that very much pleased my pallet! The rice was fluffy and the salad was good too! Definitely coming back! Service was exceptional and very pleasant 😊 Please try this place, they have alot to offer! Duane N, Whitby ontario
Really good food. Open space for kids to run around which has been handy. Lovely homemade style and flavorful. Will be coming back for sure.
If you are looking for authentic, Afghan soul-warming kebabs, qabili and soup, Al-Nur Kebab House is the perfect restaurant. The Kebabs are seasoned nicely and are very juicy. Whether it’s the tikka, Shamim, chicken K Kebabs or the lamb shanks, the meat is tender and has that unmistakable smoky char that only a traditional grill can provide. One can tell they don't take shortcuts. The naan is served hot and pillowy, and the chutneys provide the perfect zesty kick to complement the rich flavors of the meat. The restaurant is spacious and one can easily host large parties of 20+ guests. It's also the perfect place for families with small children. The staff is welcoming and attentive. It has a great home-like feel where the focus is on quality food and genuine hospitality. Don’t skip the lamb chops, qabili lamb shank or the mixed grill platter if you’re sharing with a group, it’s the best way to sample a bit of everything! Al-Nur won't disappoint It is easily some of the best Afghan/Middle Eastern cuisine in the area. Highly recommended!
