TurkishDining
The Standards

Editorial ethics.

Our editorial integrity is the only thing we have. This page explains how we make decisions, what we will and will not do, and how to hold us accountable.

Independence

Turkish Dining is independently owned. We are not affiliated with any restaurant, restaurant group, tourism board, brand, or marketing agency. Our editors do not have financial relationships with any business we cover.

How we choose what to cover

Restaurants are selected on merit. We do not accept payment, free meals, or any other consideration in exchange for inclusion in our guides. If a restaurant has comped a meal to one of our editors in another capacity — for example, at a private event — we disclose this in any review.

We visit every restaurant we review anonymously and pay for our own meals. We visit at least twice before publishing a ranking.

Recipes

Every recipe we publish has been cooked by at least one editor at least three times in the home kitchen. We don’t publish recipes we haven’t made.

Sponsored content

We accept sponsored editorial — collaborations with cultural institutions, tourism boards, and ingredient producers — only under the following conditions:

  • Every piece is clearly labelled “In partnership with [sponsor]” at the top.
  • The sponsor cannot review or approve the content before publication.
  • The sponsor cannot dictate which restaurants we recommend.
  • We turn down sponsorships from companies whose products we wouldn’t recommend on merit.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and the nature of the change. Minor edits (typos, broken links) are made silently.

To request a correction, email corrections@turkishdining.ca.

Anonymity

Our restaurant visits are anonymous. We do not announce our presence, do not use our editorial status to receive different treatment, and do not accept any complimentary items beyond what a normal paying customer would.

AI use

All editorial content on Turkish Dining is written and edited by humans. We do not use AI systems to generate articles, recipes, or reviews. We may use AI as a research or transcription assistant, disclosed in any piece where it materially shaped the content.

Affiliate links

If we recommend a cookbook, kitchen tool, or ingredient that we’ve also linked through an affiliate program (e.g. Amazon), the link is marked with a small symbol and the relationship is disclosed at the bottom of the article. Affiliate revenue does not influence which items we recommend.

Holding us accountable

Notice us getting any of this wrong? Email hello@turkishdining.ca. We take complaints about editorial conduct seriously and respond to every one.
